ANALYSIS OF DEMs FROM ACROSS TRACK STEREO PAIRS FOR A PART OF KACHCHH REGION

چکیده
Orbital stereo data is acquired by covering same area from two exposure stations in space with oblique viewing capability. It is used for generating digital elevation models (DEM) and three dimensional viewing of the terrain in a softcopy photogrammetric workstation. A good base to height ratio (B/H), usually greater than 0.5, is necessary for generation of good quality absolute DEM. Processing of the data requires a few GCPs, image matching and interpolation. Therefore DEM accuracy also depends on these factors. Good image matching is one of the most important factors in governing the altitude accuracy. Two IRS 1C/1D PAN stereo pairs covering the part of Kachchh sedimentary basin were processed for extraction of DEM and its analysis for geological study. The DEM image in the first pair clearly shows the drainage, the topographic high and variation of elevation in the hilly part of the terrain. The topographic high (water divide) with brighter tone on gray scale image indicates a higher elevation than adjoining terrain. The large difference in solar elevation angles of the images of second pair results in difference in radiometry and finally resulting in difference in image matching hence a poor DEM is obtained. A height accuracy of 5-15m is obtained in first case whereas in second case due to large plannimetric errors a height evaluation has not been attempted. Though Cartosat-1 satellite, a dedicated Indian mission for along track stereo acquisition and DEM generation, is already in orbit, however experience gained from using across track PAN data from Indian Remote Sensing satellites IRS 1C and 1D, is highlighted here.

Building-damage detection using pre- and post-seismic high-resolution satellite stereo imagery: A case study of the May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake
To address the disadvantage of traditional methods providing only two-dimensional (2D) damage change of the collapsed buildings, this paper presents an approach for the detection of the buildings that have collapsed in an earthquake based on 3D geometric changes, particularly height change of the buildings, using preand post-seismic IKONOS stereo image pairs. One of the critical issues – the ac...

ISPRS and CNES announced the HRS (High Resolution Stereo) Scientific Assessment Program during the ISPRS Commission I Symposium in Denver in November 2002. 9 test areas throughout the world have been selected for this program. For the Barcelona test site not only two-fold stereo HRS data but also HRG data of the same region have been acquired. This leads to the possibility to compare the DEM pr...
متن کاملHydrologic land cover classification mapping at local level with the combined use of ASTER multispectral imagery and GPS measurements
Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and land cover products are primary inputs for hydrologic models of surface runoff that affects infiltration, erosion, and evapotranspiration. DEM and land cover play important role in determining the runoff characteristics of specific catchment areas. Recently, at local level, a number of data sources have been used to derive land cover products for high resolut...

We calculate the amount of crustal stretching across the Valles Marineris and a large graben structure in the western Thaumasia region (the “Thaumasia graben” [1,2]). We measure vertical offsets in a set of transects using data obtained by the MOLA laser altimeter. Assuming a fault dip angle of 60°, correcting for landslide deposits, but ignoring other sediment cover, we obtain extension values...
متن کاملDem Generation from High Resolution Multi-view Data Product
High resolution space-borne remote sensing image data show a high level of detail and provide many opportunities to be integrated into remote sensing applications. In particular, surface mapping from multi-view and stereo data sets becomes feasible with height accuracy in the meter range. Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2 are the two Indian satellites which provide the high resolution images. Cartosat-...
